People always have different faces in different areas.

Under my observation (especially in workplace), some collegues just give the minimum to their bosses. If the bosses request them to do extra work, they will raise up complaint. Some of them are even very lazy. However, they may be the good husbands/wives in their homes.

In my office, one of my collegues always shifts her responsibiltiy/duties to the others so that she can leave the office on time and prepare the dinner to her husband and her baby every night.

As a colleuge, I don't like her.
But as her husband, she had done a great job at home.

Amber's Response: Thank you for your sharing, Alice. This is a common phenomenon in the workplace. That's why my first book shares about the importance of living a balanced life. It is better that, we try to excel in all areas, not just one. In the real world, this is not easy.

Personally, I like to make sure that all team members understand their responsibilities and get an agreement in writing before the team even starts working. Therefore, if someone does not pull his/her weight later, all parties would know what is going on. This has to be done in a friendly, non-judgmental, and diplomatic manner.

Sometimes, a good colleague really has to leave at 3:30 p.m. to pick up a child. If he/she is a sensible person, then he/she would find other ways to contribute more. We have to be flexible enough to accept that.

The workplace is really complex, dynamic, and delicate. We have to walk a fine line between fairness and not offending other people. Together, let us all keep learning the art of getting things done in the workplace.

Sorry for the rant, it's off-topic, but everyone might want to think about this. I have traveled in over 45 countries and as I now fly mostly in US, I now realize that the majority of poor countries are able to make it easier to get around by air. My stomach sinks everytime I go to an airport.

HI - I just found out i am pregnant, we are very excited! Last night waiting for my husband to come home so I could take the test nearly killed me. but when that little blue + came up there was much jumping up and down and squealing.

So now finally I am pregnant and suddenly realise that I don't know anything, so that's a bit scary!

I need to start researching diapers and strollers and stuff! This is great!

我很認同你指女生說話不能太粗俗,這是我親身體驗過的,曾經我在男生面前說了一個比較粗俗的形容詞,他當時就帶笑地「話」我,說這個字應該只有男生才說啊,那時的我實在尷尬得要死了.至此之後,我時刻提醒自己說話的重要, 留心不要太過粗俗,保持女生該有的斯文.

另外,有時候我是個很「大條」神經的人,曾經跟2位不同的男生約會,他們都為我預備了外衣,以防我會著涼,但是我完全不察覺,還推說自己不冷(事實我真的不冷呀),直到對方忍不住要說出真相,表明外衣是特意為我帶來的,我才恍然大悟,立刻接收了外衣. 有時候,我會覺得自己很好笑,我很慶幸自己不會太敏感對方對自己的好,否則,我會感到很大壓力,很在意對方有沒有對我好.我覺得這些「細心事」在不經意的情況下發生,往往是最令人會心微笑的.
